Settling
After our three days of surprising October storms, things are settling down. Most of the water is gone, and the driveway is repaired. Here are some before and after photos. Remember: click on each one to see it big and fully.
Looking toward the wash, down the driveway:

Near the corrals, I was standing on a pile of gravel trying to slow the water down:

These are photos of the wash heading north. Both photos were taken on the same day, a few hours apart. It is completely dry today. I didn’t take photos today cuz he was digging it up to repair the road. The palo verde on the right with some dead in the middle will help orient you.

These below are from Rabbit Run, the smaller wash by the barn that rarely runs but did this weekend.

This is at the carport looking at our work area:

In the photo with the water and the gardens below, the water had already started to go down. It was completely surrounding the gardens and 4-6 inches deep. In the second photo, that’s today. All dry. (And I finally took down the shade cloth.)

These are of the place where the wash goes over the driveway: When it was really going, when it was settling down, and then when it was a driveway again.

And finally, here’s one of our neighbors making a driveway for us again. Very grateful! The Sanctuary feels so refreshed. I’m hoping we’ll get some fall flowers. If not, we should get a great spring flower fest. Enjoy!
